The Greater Shenandoah Historical Society sponsored an open house that featured the first public showing of the sloth toddler and baby remains. The event started Friday evening, May 29, with a ‘for members only’ viewing and one-on-one discussions with sloth excavation team members. This was followed by a buffet meal and then a stump-the-expert session on rock, fossil and bone identification with Sarah, Meghann and Holmes on the platform. An audience of about 90 people was amazed about what we could and could not identify. The next day, the Society held an open house for the general public from 10:00-4:00 with Holmes and Dave presenting a slide show on the sloth excavation at 1:00. Approximately 300 people signed the guest register and many volunteers journeyed to the Museum for the event. The Greater Shenandoah Historical Society has a super museum; Visit if you are in the area.
University of Iowa participants were Aaron Last, Meghann Mahoney, Sarah Horgen, David Brenzel and Holmes Semken.
