Never a dull moment 'round here, folks. Elizabeth and Soaalii from our MNH Collections team made two round trips to deliver one snake and two lizards to the Vertebrate Zoology class (BIOL:2346) at the UI Biology Building.

Our Reticulated Python is 10 feet long and takes 3 people to move (2 for careful lifting, one for opening doors and sometimes directing traffic!). Our python, originally from Madagascar, joined our collection in 1907. She and the special crate she lives in do not make for an easy lift.

Each year the UI Museum of Natural History fulfills loan requests for collections items to student classes all around campus. Last year, we lent 850 specimens and 661 objects for a total of 1,511 items.

We just love being able to contribute to the learning experience of our Hawkeyes! With such cool stuff, it's fun to share.
